Google has finally launched the new Pixel 9 series in India and globally.
The devices come with a lot of new changes, AI features and even a revamped design. Here’s all you need to know about the new smartphones and accessories, starting with the Pixel 9
Google Pixel 9
The Google Pixel 9 is the base model this year and is very close to the higher-end Pro models when it comes to design. The phone features a new matte glass back and Google’s signature pastel colours. The compact phone sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display with 2700 nits peak brightness which is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 tech.
Powering the phone is a new 4nm Tensor G4 chipset, that comes with 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. Meanwhile, the camera setup includes a 50MP main rear camera, a 48MP secondary ultrawide camera, and a 10.5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Both cameras can record video up to 4K 60fps.
Other features include a stereo-speakers, a USB 3.2 Type-C port and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the screen. The Pixel 9 also comes with a 4,700mAh battery and support for 27W wired and 12W/15W wireless charging with any Qi wireless charger/the Pixel Stand.
The Google Pixel 9 is priced starting at Rs 79,999 and comes in four colours – Porcelain, Obsidian, Wintergreen and Peony. The phone comes with Android 14 and will be updated for seven years.
Google Pixel 9 Pro and
Pixel 9 Pro XL
The new Pro phones add more hardware to the standard Pixel 9. There is the Google Pixel 9 Pro, which comes with a 6.3-inch 1280p OLED display, now an OLED LTPO panel with variable refresh rate up to 120Hz and up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. There is also the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL for those who want a larger phone, with a 6.8-inch 1344p OLED LTPO display and up to 3000 nits peak brightness.
The compact Pixel 9 Pro comes with a 4,700mAh battery, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a larger 5,060mAh battery. Besides this, all the features of the two phones are the same.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the successor to the Pixel Fold, and now a part of the brand numerical series of devices. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with a Foldable 8-inch inner LTPO OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 2076 x 2152 pixels. On the outside is a 6.3-inch 1080p OLED display that comes with 120Hz refresh rate. Both panels can go up to 2,700 nits peak brightness.
The Android phone is also powered by the new Tensor G4 chipset and comes with 16GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The camera setup here includes a 48MP main camera, a 10.8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 10.5MP ultrawide camera. There are also two 10MP front cameras, on the inner display and one on the outer.
Other features include stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IPX8 water resistance and a 4,650mAh battery. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is priced starting at Rs 1,72,999 and comes in Obsidian and Porcelain colours. Yes, it also gets Android 14 and will be updated for seven years. The phone is quite comparable to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 in terms of both hardware and AI features.
Pixel Watch 3
Google also launched its newest smartwatch – the Pixel Watch 3, which now comes in two sizes – 41mm and 45mm. The watches come with the new Pixel Actua display that’s also used on the Pixel phones, and sport a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, while also going down all the way to 1 nit in darker environments.
The watch can also go from 1Hz to 60Hz refresh rate, allowing it to use Always-On display. The Pixel Watch 3 is priced at Rs 39,900.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 feature a stem-less design and sport a custom Tensor A1 chipset. Google claims improved noise cancellation and many AI features. This includes the ability to trigger Gemini Live, a voice-based real-time conversation with Gemini using a “Hey Google, let’s talk live” command. The earbuds are priced at Rs 22,900 and come in four colours – Porcelain, Hazel, Peony and Wintergreen.
